Review: The Consequence of Loving Colton by Rachel Van Dyken

My name is Milo Caro and I have a confession to make.

I’ve been in love with Colton Mathews since I was five. He should have known that sharing a cookie with a sugar obsessed little monster would do the trick–it sealed his fate. So really, the fact that he’s sporting a black eye, a limp, almost got ran over by a car, and was nearly responsible for another person’s death? Right. HIs fault. Not mine.

I made a pact with myself–this weekend would be different. I’d come home for my brothers wedding, smile, and Colton would naturally melt into my arms, we’d get married have five kids, live in a house by the river, and get a dog named scratch (clearly I’ve thought this through).

What really happened? I punched my brother in the face, Colton kissed me and apologized, I lied about having a boyfriend, oh and everyone wants to meet the mystery man.

They say laughter always comes before insanity–ha, ha. All I wanted was my brother’s best friend…instead I’m sitting in prison.

Let this be a lesson to you all…life rarely happens the way you want it to.

Damn cookie.

Milo & Colton…..Where to start! They have been in love with one another pretty much their whole lives but neither had the courage to tell the other. Some of that has to do with Colton being Milo’s brother’s best friend and some of it was just because they were scared.

As time goes by they go their separate ways and start to embark on their own lives until Milo comes home for her brother’s wedding one weekend and sees that Colton will be there as well, this is where things start to heat up a bit.

Even though things are going well with Colton, they aren’t progressing as quickly as Milo would like them to so she brings in a reinforcement in the form of her best friend from school Max. Only everybody else including Colton things that Max is Milo’s boyfriend and they are deep in love with one another…….this is where things REALLY start to get interesting.  You know the ole saying a little competition never hurt anyone and in this case the so called competition is driving Colton crazy!

This was certainly a feel good book to me, I caught myself literally laughing out loud at times and the banter between all the characters while a little overboard in my opinion at times was still down right funny. The characters are fun, the storyline was good and it did keep me interested. They were a really fun group with a lot of craziness to read about!
