Review: Break Even by Lisa De Jong

My story isn’t a love story … not the typical kind anyway.
As a lawyer, I’m used to discovery, but I never saw this one coming.

Every day, River gives me ten reasons to stay away, and then eleven reasons why I can't. Our relationship was to remain strictly business, or at least I tried.

Four years of marriage, and everything with Cole has changed. I never knew two people who lived together could be so distant. But I’m not ready to give up on him.

One man wants to break me.
The other is just trying to get even.

Both are lying to me.

5/5 STARS

I was excited to start this book after reading the synopsis. When I first started reading I didn’t like any books that even resembled a love triangle but now I have become a total love triangle junkie and this one seemed like it was going to be a good one to get my fix from AND let me tell you it sure as heck did not disappoint me! However, this story is so much more than your average love triangle. The twists and turns that happen were not ones that I saw coming that’s for sure!

Break Even was very addicting once I started it. It totally consumed me. I..couldn’t.. put.. it.. down so make sure you clear your schedule or lock yourself in a room with a do not disturb sign because once you start it, you won’t stop. It has those times in it when you know all hell is going to break loose and you’re not sure if you want to pause and savor that moment, that feeling you get when you know something big is going to happen or if you want to hurry up and read on so you can breathe more easily. I LOVED THOSE MOMENTS!

I especially loved the moments leading up to the ending. Marley was exceptional and a very smart woman. River is just……yummy as hell and Cole…well he was sweet for maybe for a minute. In case it isn’t crystal clear which side I was on, I was on team River pretty much the whole time!

Fantastic, fantastic read! This was my very first Lisa De Jong book and it most certainly will not be my last! She has definitely made a fan out of me.
