Review: Forbidden by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Annie has never experienced the 'spark' with a guy-that instant chemistry that renders you weak in the knees. That is, until a night out brings her face to face with the dangerously sexy and mysterious Jack. It's not just a spark that ignites between them. It's an explosion. Jack promises to consume Annie, and he fully delivers on that promise.

Overwhelmed by the intensity of their one night together, Annie slips out of their hotel room. She is certain that a man who's had such a powerful impact on her must be dangerous. She has no idea that he belongs to another. That he's forbidden.

Whoa Jodi Ellen Malpas has done it again! I didn’t think she could make me love a character more than Jesse Ward from This Man but she sure as hell has gone and done it. I might even like Jack a tad bit more than Jesse.....maybe!

Now, Jodi starts this book off with a little bit of a warning for those readers who are sensitive on some subject matters but if you’re like me any book that comes with a warning (even a little one) I just have to have. The warning just makes me want to read it more..lol So I was rubbing my hands together feeling giddy as I was diving into this one.

Annie & Jack meet by chance one night and their chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS. I mean fog up your kindle and grab yourself a fan off the charts. Their attraction to one another is palpable. They both feel it right away and I as a reader felt it, but neither one is interested in acting on it, in fact it is forbidden for either of them to act upon it. Now, you know anything that is forbidden just makes you want it more right?

“He is just to f**king handsome for his own good. And, Undoubtedly, my good, too.”

This story will have you questioning your morals and asking yourself could this really happen? Is there really that one soulmate out there for everyone? What would you do to be with the one you love? What are you willing to give up to be with the one you love? Those are all valid questions for this story.

Your emotions will be all over the place. (mine certainly were) BUT my heart was always in one place right from the start.

Forbidden has humor, sex, great characters, drama and love. All the things that make a great story. Jodi did not hold anything back writing this one, she brought out all of the feelings and conflict and it was nice to read a story where nothing was sugarcoated.

Phenomenal love story and definitely one of my favorites!

Review: The Protector by Jodi Ellen Malpas

People think they have Camille Logan nailed: daddy's girl; beautiful, spoiled young woman with her father's bank balance to fund her lifestyle. But Camille is determined to have a life free from his strings. Out on her own, she's made mistakes, including one that found her clawing her way back after a stint in rehab and plenty of bad press. Now, after fighting so hard to be independent and happy, she finds her life threatened as a result of her father's ruthless business dealings. Caught between resentment and fear, Camille prepares herself for the measures her father will take to protect her. But nothing could prepare her for the ex-SAS sniper who crashes into her life.

Jake Sharp resides in his own personal hell. He was distracted from duty once before, and the consequences were devastating--both personally and professionally. He vowed never to let that happen again. Accepting the job of bodyguard to Camille Logan isn't the kind of distraction from his demons he should take. Women and Jake don't mix well, yet protecting the heiress seems the lesser of two evils. But Jake soon discovers that she isn't the woman she's perceived to be. She's warm, compassionate, her presence settling, and his duty to protect her soon goes deeper than a well-paid job, no matter how hard he fights it. He needs absolution. He comes to need Camille. But he knows he can't have both.

4.5 'All this girlie shit is turning my brain pink' Stars

Jodi Ellen Malpas is definitely back on my book-nerd radar after indulging in and binge reading her first standalone novel, The Protector. JEM's sinfully provocative prose slowly lures you in, then when you're in it's clutches- quickly builds up speed, one that won't loosen it's grip on you until the very last word has been read!

In true JEM-fashion, The Protector is a multi faceted literary work, with layers upon layers of complex story-line and characters, richly poignant in delivery.  With so much baggage and many secrets to be divulged, this baby will have you on the edge of your seats, flipping those pages as fast as you can! I'm still a bit awestruck and raw from the literary journey Malpas has penned. Move over Jesse, I've got a new book boyfriend!

Sizzle and swoon. Witt and banter. A delicious slow burn laced with suspense and daddy drama. Oh, Hell, YES! Once I reeeeeeally got into the story, to the point of living and breathing the book, I couldn't put it down! Captivating, compelling-this book is balls to the wall, flat out all-consuming! Hypnotized by the ebb and flow. And yes, tears will flow too *wink*

That ending though...perfection!
