Release Blitz: Forgetting August by J.L. Berg

She can forgive, but can she forget?

Some days, Everly still thinks she sees him. In the food court at the mall, or in a car speeding past as the light changes. It only lasts a second, but when it happens, she slips back to a time when she was ruled-and nearly ruined-by August Kincaid. And it doesn't matter that she's moved on, that she's about to marry another man. In those moments the only thing she can do to regain control is take a deep breath and remind herself that August can't hurt her-because he's in a coma. Except that he's not anymore.

August is awake. With no memories, he sets out to solve the mystery of his lost life. He unearths a photograph of a beautiful redhead named Everly and knows instinctively that she's the key. But when he finds her, the August she describes is more monster than man.

Tortured by the thought of having hurt her, August wants only to become the man Everly deserves. As the new August emerges, Everly glimpses the person she first fell in love with. But can she trust that this August is real? When the final secret of their shared past is revealed, one of them will make a choice that changes their future forever . . .

Review by Jennifer

ARC received for an honest review from the publisher via Netgalley

Forgetting August was such a unique storyline from other books that I have read. It totally drew me in from the very first page. What would you do if you were given a second chance at life? A complete do over?

Everly has loved August Kincaid for years, in fact, there was a time when she thought that she would spend the rest of her life with him. But life doesn’t always go as planned and as she is moving on and planning her new happily ever after with Ryan, Everly receives news that leaves her feeling very confused and second guessing some choices that she has made.

“Loving someone was easy. Life was the chaotic mess in between.”

I really liked Everly. I could sympathize with her thoughts and feelings and most of all her confusion. I didn’t always agree with her choices but they often made me think, what would I do in that same situation?

August Kincaid is lost and trying to put his life back together. He doesn’t remember Everly but he still feels this undeniable attraction to her and he just knows that she is the missing piece of the puzzle that he needs to complete his life.

“Move in with me. Please. Warm my bed, live in my arms…never leave.” (sigh..sigh)

I adored August. I was rooting for him from the get go. I was so happy that the Author told the story in alternating views. I liked getting his view of things and how he was feeling, especially in the beginning. He always had the right things to say and although he was in a vulnerable position he didn’t come across as weak instead he came across as very strong and even demanding at times.

This was a very good read with some twists and turns along the way that I didn’t see coming. It also left me feeling a little confused at how I really want things to turn out. I can’t wait for the second book. I need to see where the Author is going to go next with their story and I need some questions answered!

J.L. Berg was a new author to me prior to reading this book but I will be seeking out more of her books. She can definitely write a captivating love story!
