Review: Grey by EL James

See the world of Fifty Shades of Grey anew through the eyes of Christian Grey.

In Christian's own words, and through his thoughts, reflections, and dreams, E L James offers a fresh perspective on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the world.

Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty—until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.

Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?

This book is intended for mature audiences.

Review by Jennifer

Honestly I was very skeptical about reading this book. I typically don’t care for a book that is retold from the other characters POV. I usually get bored fairly quickly and it just doesn’t hold my interest. In saying that though Fifty Shades of Grey was the reason I became a reader. I had never read books before reading those books and once I read them I was hooked so naturally the character of Christian Grey holds a very special place in my heart and I knew that I at least had to give reading Grey a try. I am extremely happy that I did because I really loved it.

For me this book was an awesome read and parts of me actually liked it more than I did Fifty Shades of Grey. Even though I knew how the story was going to play out it was just so different coming from the mindset of Christian. I couldn’t get enough of his sarcastic foul mouth and the thoughts that were going on in his head that he never even said just made this story even better for me.

I think if you are a huge fan of the FSOG trilogy and of Christian you will love this added bonus book. You will know what is going to happen but the story will still pull you in just like you are reading it for the first time. Reading it from his POV was just so different for me. I for one am ecstatic that EL James wrote Grey and I am so hoping that we will get the other two books from his POV as well. After all these years I still can’t seem to get enough of Christian Grey! Bravo EL James!!!
