Review: The Great Escape by Charlotte Fallowfield

The Great Escape.

A laugh-out-loud novel from Charlotte Fallowfield, Amazon UK #1 bestselling contemporary romance author of Until We Collide.

Release date 31st August 2017.

A tropical beach paradise in Mexico was the last place Georgie Basset expected her decimated heart to be jump-started again, not after she’d been jilted the year before by her fiancĂ©, leading to said breakage. But when she spotted Weston Argent jogging along the beach, all bronzed with ripped muscles like some Greek God out of a modern day Baywatch scene, she nearly choked on her cocktail. She knew immediately she was in trouble, she’d never reacted so strongly to a man on first glance.

However, after a disastrous first date with him, she headed back home to Dilbury, resigned to never seeing him again. That is, until Weston turned up unexpectedly at her dog grooming parlour with Bertie the French bulldog, a species she had a real weakness for. She couldn’t help but wonder if fate was playing a helping hand. But each time she saw him, their encounters never went smoothly, resulting in some mortifying and hilarious escapades. Despite their undeniable attraction, there was something about Weston that she couldn’t quite put her finger on, something that concerned her.

When the truth finally came to light, Georgie was convinced that all men were dogs, except she knew that was an insult to dogkind. Ever the meddler, her best friend, Abbie, intervened, knowing in her heart that despite what had happened, Weston was full of good intentions, and was undoubtedly Georgie’s Prince Charming.

The question remained, could he convince Georgie of that, or would he forever remain in the dog house?

While The Great Escape is a standalone story, it's the second in the Dilbury Village series of romantic comedy novels. All of them will be set in the quaint fictitious English hamlet in the Shropshire countryside, but feature a different village couples' story.

Warning, if you are of a sensitive disposition when it comes to toilet humour, then the Dilbury Village series may not be for you!

Prepare to laugh your way through this heartwarming and ever so charming second installment of the Dilbury Village Series. Charlotte Fallowfield returns with guns blazing with her no holds bar humour and wit bursting off the pages of The Great Escape as Georgie Basset takes her turn on the great quest for love with her best friends at her side.

Georgie hasn't had the best luck when it comes to love, it's a fickle bitch at the best of times and she's been burnt- to a black bloody crisp. Needless to say she's reluctant to open her heart but, once she sees the handsome Weston running on the Mexican shore... well, I can't blame her *wink* I mean what else is a single girl to do while on vacation, oogle the sand?! Pfffft!!

'Georgeous,' I replied, putting my hand in his. I felt faint as he wrapped his fingers tightly around my hand, which quivered from the sensation that sparked all of my nerve endings. Oh shit. Had I just said gorgeous out loud? 'Georgie, I mean my name is Georgie, not gorgeous. It's a bit presumptuous of me to call myself gorgeous, isn't it? And I wasn't saying it about you, no. NO, no, no. Not that you're not gorgeous. I mean you are, obviously, but ... oh God, I'm rambling, aren't I?' I uttered, my cheeks flaming.

From nervous ramblings, to turdgate 2.0, the joys of a blooming relationship; it's ups & downs and all around joys, let downs and happily ever afters. Everything and anything is possible and survivable with the love and support of your besties by your side! This is a book that you must read and experience first hand! It's British Rom-Com at it's best!

'Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom to decide what path you really want to take to climb back out of the hole you've found yourself in.'

Review: Never The Bride by Charlotte Fallowfield

From Charlotte Fallowfield, bestselling rom-com author, comes Never The Bride - A laugh out loud romantic comedy novel full of heart-warming friendships, romance, and quintessential British humour - Coming 28th February 2017.

Available to pre-order from Amazon now!

Abbie Carter felt doomed as she clutched her bouquet and started walking up the aisle. Again. She felt like she was stuck in some kind of Groundhog Day wedding nightmare. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Eight dresses, most of them hideous, were already stuffed in her attic space. She had more bridesmaid dresses than relationships. Was she really that unlucky in love? She despaired of ever finding her soul mate and was convinced that if she packed away dress thirteen in her attic, she’d never get to wear the coveted white one and have her happy ever after.

That was until she locked eyes with one of the handsome ushers, whose wink turned her elegant and well-practiced glide up the aisle into a flailing Bambi-on-ice spectacle. Miller Davis was the first man in forever to make her heart skip a beat, as well as her legs turn to jelly. And, for once, her interest in a man didn’t seem to be one-sided. It was just a shame that the Atlantic Ocean separated them. Abbie couldn’t even make a relationship with her elderly fat pooch, Sumo, work, so what chance did she have with a permanent New Yorker? Her best friend, Georgie, told her to ignore the miles that separated her from Miller and to go for it, saying that true love knew no bounds.

Was Abbie fated to always be the bridesmaid, or would her wish for the perfect day with the man of her dreams ever come true?

While Never The Bride will be a standalone story, it's the first in the Dilbury Village series of romantic comedy novels. All of them will be set in the quaint fictitious English hamlet in the Shropshire countryside, but feature a different village couples' story.

5 'I've come to trim your bush.' Stars

Whisked away to the quaint English countryside village of Dilbury, Charlotte Fallowfield takes us on quite the hilarious adventure in Never The Bride with Abbie Carter as our guide. Prepare for laughs and hilarious happenings at every flip of the page!

'Well, give me a minute to get out of these pajamas and I can show you how I want my bush done. I kind of like a shape to it, you know? It makes it look more pretty.'

Ever the hopeless romantic, Abbie swears she's been cursed when it comes to all things love. After a crushing break-up that landed quite the blow to her heart, the curse lives on in Never The Bride. Doomed with the fate of being a brides maid for life, she's pretty much given up on ever finding true love, of being the bride with a handsome and dashing man at her side. With her best friend, Georgie, and her flatulent expelling pooch at her side, life would go on in Dilbury.

With yet another wedding to partake in, with hilarious dress fittings and the worst luck ever causing Abbie to get down, dirty, and wet with a groomsmen... maybe her luck was taking a turn for the better? Hansom American man in the flesh! Or will it be the toned to perfection English groundsmen? Decisions that her heart will make for her, because after all, The heart wants what the heart wants.

'All I could think about was that he was holding my hand and how lovely it felt.'

Never The Bride was an amazing roller-coaster ride through the highs and lows of Abbie's life and love life. This story is so much more than a hilarious romantic comedy. It touched on real matters that would suck the emotions out of me. Gah!  Whatever Charlotte writes, she turns to gold! I cannot wait to read the next installment in this fabulous and addictive series.

'Wow, hot, sexy, and chivalrous. I felt like I was in Vegas at the slot machines, and the jackpot had just sounded the alarm.' That pretty much sums up my reading experience of this book!

A fateful Collision of 5 well deserved Stars!

OMG! OMFG! OH.MY.GAAAAAWD! I LOVED this book, like, completely 110% fell in love with it! Ya know when you start a book and you get -THAT- feeling, the one that's like "Oh, yeah! This is going to be really good."!?! Well, I was wrong. It was freaking AMAZING!! SO AMAZING! I devoured it in only a couple hours, amazing. Ok, now that I've let my inner manic book nerd fan-girling self out...I'll try to contain it...albeit briefly ;)

Until We Collide. Wow! Just, wow! A brilliant Rom-Com debut from Charlotte Fallowfield. I swear the woman could write a spellbinding story about a paper bag that would be captivating. Talented it what she is. There wasn't a single thing I didn't love about this book. From the super fun cover to the synopsis, I found myself being sucked in to the story with every flip of the page. Ever changing, never losing pace. Completely captivated.

I laughed a lot...cuz, duh. It's a romantic comedy!
I cried...out of frustration for Paige. AAAAAH!!!!
I swooned...Hello, Alec!!!!!
Had my heart broken a few times...damn you, Alec!
BUT...I couldn't wipe the smile off my face.

Unlike Paige Taylor, there aren't any calamities in regard to this story-line. Paige has that one under control *LOL* The girl is a "walking disaster", especially when it comes to the studly Alec Wright. I prefer to call him Mr. wRIGHT. He's the one who always "gets away" as the timing never seems to be "right" when they collide. Ah, yes! The moment when the title clicks!!! Looooooove!

Paige, she's one of the best heroines I've read in a long time. Her character is brutally realistic and that's what I love so much about her. Is it ok to have a fictional BFF?! Cuz, she'd be mine. So klutzy and self conscious when it comes to her appearance. Tall, blonde and curvy. A total knock out! Hell, she's essentially me minus the knock out part lol.

Until We Collide takes place over 13...well, 14 years.
BUT
THIRTEEN YEARS of longing and regret.
THIRTEEN YEARS worth of hilarious dating disasters.
THIRTEEN YEARS of trying to get over her soulmate.
THIRTEEN YEARS of never colliding at the right time.
THIRTEEN YEARS of good luck never being a friend of hers.

Thirteen bloody years!

He loved her since he first laid eyes on her. He let her go so he wouldn't be the reason she stayed and later came to resent him. Boy, he's one stupid mother f*****! But I can't help but love him! He has serious swoon factor. He's willing to play the fate game. If they were truly meant to be, that one day, they'd collide. But until then... THIRTEEN YEARS!!!!!!

Full circle. Ending where it began and OMG it was perfect!!!
Oh, Hello, Hangover! I'm seriously craving more! FALLOWFIELD! I NEED MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!

"We hadn't just collided, we merged. I had no idea anymore where I ended and he began, and I never wanted to find out."
 *sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh*
