Review: Written in the Scars by Adriana Locke

Falling in love is easy.

Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world.

And Elin and Ty Whitt are terrible at it.

The first time the local basketball star smiled at Elin, she was a goner. It was just so damn easy to fall for the dark-haired hometown hero with his charming smile and strong, athletic build.

Thousands of sleepy smiles, aimless drives down country roads, and squeaks of the backdoor after a swing shift later, reality hits. And it hits hard. Falling in love was definitely the easy part. Watching it break apart was impossible.

Through the tears, the second-guesses, the memories of a life built together, the world keeps spinning. With each turn comes clarity and hope—sometimes in the form of a pair of muddy boots by the back door or from the words of a wise friend.

When Ty shows back up with a new found determination to put his family back together, Elin's torn between the fights of the past and the possibility of a new start. This is the man that holds her heart, the man she loves beyond anything else. But this is also the one person in the world that can cause her the most pain.

Life’s not always easy. Love’s not for the faint of heart. But with life comes lessons and Ty and Elin have the scars to prove it. But it's their love written in those scars that will hold them together … or break them apart.

5 "You don't have any clue how deep my scars go." Stars

'It's been this way since he left.'

Poignant and raw, no emotion is left unturned in Written in the Scars. Adriana Locke has penned a story with such depth and emotion-it will stick with you, make you question what's important and what's not. Not only will you shed tears, your heart and soul will bleed for these characters. An emotional journey from start to finish. Get the tissue handy! This is a one heck of a snot blower!

"Our lives are one and the same, you know? Everything we've been through in our lives we've done together."

I adore everything about Written in the Scars, devouring it in one evening. Although at times I was unable to breathe due to such depth of feeling in every sentence, paragraph and chapter, it was definitely worth all the tears shed. I must have lost 5lb by the time I finished reading lol

'My biggest fear is letting my feelings get so mixed up by remembering who we used to be together and not who we are now.'

A story of love and loss, understanding and forgiveness. One of struggles and perseverance and finding your way. The push and pull, ups and downs are strong and at times withholding. I couldn't help but get lost in this story. The characters become a part of you. They take. They want. They leave you feeling complete. Finishing this book was the worst thing that happened to me today. I can't shake it. The force is too strong with Written in the Scars. I want to hug the crap out of Elin, soothe the scars that blister and fester within Ty. Many life lessons are hidden within the pages of this book and Adriana did a superb job laying this one out for the world to enjoy.

'Life does pack a punch. But it's the scars that make us who we are, that tell the story of the life we lived.'
