Review: The Billionaire Next Door by Jessica Lemmon

Can't Buy Me Love

It's Tag Crane's job to be the life of the party. Traveling from one exotic locale to another is just part of running the luxurious Crane Hotel empire. But even paradise isn't perfect. Devising a new business strategy is keeping Tag up at night-and so is the Great Dane barking at all hours in the apartment below his. To muzzle the problem, Tag charges downstairs . . . right into the most beautiful, blond distraction he's ever seen.

Dog-sitting by day, bartending by night. It's not exactly the life Rachel Foster dreamed of. But when Tag Crane rushes in, all mountain-man shoulders and obscenely sexy smile, needing her help for the Crane Hotels, it's a fantasy come true. What's the harm in a fun no-strings fling? Only a fool would give her heart to a billionaire player like Tag-until suddenly the one man who can't be caught is the one flirting with forever . . .

Author Jessica Lemmon is most definitely quickly becoming one of my favorite Authors! Her characters are just so perfect. The heroes are broken yet still powerful, bossy cocky and sensitive. Her heroines are strong, independent and aren’t willing to take crap off of anyone.

In this second book in the series we get to know Taggart Crane. He is Reese Crane’s brother. Everyone calls him Tag for short. Tag is afraid of commitment. He doesn’t believe that he can do it. He is much more your fun for one night kind of man but when he meets Rachel all that starts to change and he begins to question everything he thought he knew, including whether or not he could actually be boyfriend material.

“I want you to touch me. You’ve been eating me alive with your eyes since I opened my door. You look at me like your shopping for something you can’t afford.”

Rachel has just come out of a relationship with a guy who took her for granted and who took advantage of her. Her self-esteem is at an all- time low and she isn’t looking for love but who can stay away from Tag, not Rachel that’s for sure.

“You don’t need to go slow with me sweetheart.” His voice was gravel-laden, his body aflame. “I’m matching your pace, not the other way around.”

These two were so sweet together. Reading this story certainly gave me that warm, fuzzy feeling inside. Their banter was funny and their push and pull against one another was great. Watching Rachel be able to come out of her shell with Tag was enduring and watching Tag help her do that completely stole my heart. These two were just meant to be, right from the start.

“I didn’t even know I was broken until I met you.”
