Review: Irresistibly Yours by Lauren Layne

Meet the men of Oxford magazine! In the first captivating spin-off of Lauren Layne’s Sex, Love & Stiletto series, a not-so-friendly battle of the sexes turns into a scorching office romance.

Hotshot sports editor Cole Sharpe has been freelancing for Oxford for years, so when he hears about a staff position opening up, he figures he’s got the inside track. Then his boss drops a bombshell: Cole has competition. Female competition, in the form of a fresh-faced tomboy who can hang with the dudes—and write circles around them, too. Cole usually likes his women flirty and curvy, but he takes a special interest in his skinny, sassy rival, if only to keep an eye on her. And soon, he can’t take his eyes off her.

Penelope Pope knows all too well that she comes off as just one of the guys. Since she’s learned that wanting more usually leads to disappointment, Penelope’s resigned to sitting on the sidelines when it comes to love. So why does Cole make her want to get back in the game? The man is as arrogant as he is handsome. He probably sees her as nothing more than a barrier to his dream job. But when an unexpected kiss turns into a night of irresistible passion, Penelope has to figure out whether they’re just fooling around—or starting something real.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

5 ballpark hot-dogs with a side order of swoon!

This was the first book of Lauren Layne's that I've read and it certainly
won't be the last! Irresistibly Yours is simply that; irresistible. So
much so that I DEVOURED it in one sitting and loved every second of it!

Irresistible Yours encompasses everything that I adore in a romance book.
From the opposites attract, quick wit and banter, the breaking of those well
constructed walls around ones heart, to the realization of "holy shit,
I'm in love!!" The primary characters, as well as secondary,  are so
well developed they suck you into their world. Which by the way was
fabulous. Their banter and scheming throughout the whole story is
hilarious and quite entertaining. Diving into the world of Oxford and
Stiletto's was quite the experience.

It wasn't hard to fall for Cole and Penelope. They're just so darn lovable,
but in their own uniqueway. They're a match made in opposites attract heaven.
Cole is the good looking, get any girl he wants, easy going type vs. Penelope who is a
tomboy and "one of the guys" with low self worth. My heart hurt for her
on multiple occasions.  Watching their platonic friendship and love of
all things sports bloom into full blown love was beautiful. While being a
sweet and cute read, there wasn't anything lacking in the sexxxxy kink

"Weekdays, we’re colleagues. Weekends, we can be—”..“fuck buddies."

And O.M.G! The sexual tension and chemistry between these two was off
the charts HOT! And watching Penelope gain confidence was heart warming.
I may have done a few fist pumps for her lol. Go Tiny go!!!

"I will treat you with the respect you deserve at work, and then I will use
your sweet body for sex after work, but Penelope Pope, I give you my
solemn promise not to fall in love with you."

Heh, sometimes promises ARE meant to be broken. How could they not?! They're so perfect
for each other. And this book was the perfect one for me. *Happy sigh*

If I could pick a place that I wanted to work at, I would work for Oxford Magazine. They just seem like such a fun group of guys to work with plus the ladies at Stiletto would be close by and I absolutely love them. Really this group of friends will have you totally laughing your butt off! From the “guy group talks” to the “girl group talks” this group has no secrets. They were all up in each other’s business all the time and made no excuses for it and I just loved every minute of it!

Cole and Penelope meet under circumstances that should immediately put them at odds with one another. But instead of that happening they strike up a friendship that turns into much more. However that much more does not come without drama and some ex baggage showing up. The banter between these two characters was funny and sweet. Cole was sarcastic and Penelope had no problem putting him his place when the need arose. Penelope had some self -esteem issues and Cole was wonderful at trying to help her overcome that. Their relationship was just so real and nice from the start and I really liked that. This wasn’t a love/hate story, this was a friends turned lover’s story.

I felt good reading this book and felt it was a heartwarming little love story. Cole definitely has his swoony moments and Penelope has her emotional ones. It has sass, romance, a good storyline, love and sex, just a little bit of everything that makes a great combination.

Love, love, loved it!
